Chicago Public Library's One Book, One Chicago in partnership with the Art Institute of Chicago, the Chicago Cultural Alliance and WBEZ 91.5 Chicago present Bounty, an exploration of themes at the intersection of culture, cuisine, agriculture and heritage.

Join us for this two-part series that connects our dinner tables with art, culture and the larger world in response to the 2016 book selection Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver.

Chef and restaurateurs speakers include: Ranjani Bhargava, Myrtha Briette, Almaz Yigizaw, and Alvin Yu. They will discuss the complexities of food and its resonance with people, place and tradition. Synopsis: A young suona (Chinese trumpet) apprentice forms his own troupe at a time when the traditions of suona music are declining in Chinese society. He has to face the painful reality that his chosen calling is no longer in tune with a modern China.(In Mandarin with English subtitles)
