Now located at 247 West 23rd Street, St. Therese School opened in 1941 at another location. Construction on the current school building (shown below) started in 1959, and was dedicated on April 30, 1961. Like Haines School, St. Therese School plays a major role in the education of Chinatown's children. It currently has about 300 students in kindergarten through 8th grade. About 95% of the students are Chinese-Americans.
