Chinese War Brides Act

The Chinese American Museum of Chicago – Raymond B. & Jean T. Lee Center is excited to host a new temporary exhibition, 1946 Chinese War Brides Act – H.R. 4844, which helped create a newly structured family system and stabilized the Chinese American communities. Come see the documents and pen used by President Harry S. Truman to sign H.R. 4844 into law. The exhibit is a collaboration with the Chinese American Citizens Alliance (美州同源會) – Chicago Chapter. We thank the Chinese American Citizens Alliance – National Lodge for its generous loan.
