We invite Chicago to discover the unique local Chinese American history through showcasing and celebrating current Chinese American art, culture, and innovation.
Chicago’s Chinatown is a site of rich historical importance. CAMOC not only invites visitors to discover it, but is a home for Chicagoans to gather, support, and create an expansive and evolving narrative of the Chinese American story.

In Loving Memory of Mabel Menard

We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of a beloved museum supporter and friend, Ms. Mabel Menard, in late October.
Mabel was a dedicated member of the Chinese American Museum of Chicago (CAMOC) for many years, first serving as the Executive Director of CAMOC from 2017-2018, then as Board Vice President of the Chinatown Museum Foundation (CMF) in 2018-2019, and returning to serve as Interim Executive Director for a year in 2022.
Most recently, she worked for the Chinese Mutual Aid Association as Director of Administration and as the President of the OCA – Greater Chicago Chapter. Early in her professional career, she joined Adapt Illinois for over ten years working in the field of mental health. Mabel believed in the power of education, holding advanced degrees in Psychology, Business, and Human Resources, and serving as faculty member and college chair for the University of Phoenix.
Mabel was a strong advocate of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community and a compassionate voice for all disadvantaged immigrants and will be profoundly missed by all. May she rest in peace. We extend our sincerest condolences to her family. Memorial services will be announced soon.
Help Us Raise $15,000 Before Dec 31st!
During this season of giving thanks, we hope that you will be able to find things to be thankful for. We sincerely thank you for your support of our museum, which has been instrumental in our success. We are also thankful for Raymond Lee and Ed Jung and the many leaders, volunteers and staff, past and present, that have sustained us for so many years and in the years to come.
Because of generous community members like you, we expanded opportunities for cultural workers across the region, partnering with cultural organizations and educators to strengthen the network of history, context, and connection that our community depends on.
Today, we launch our Year-End Appeal and invite you to help us raise $15,000 to support our vital museum branches in 2026. Your contribution ensures that we remain free and accessible to all.
Our initiatives foster intergenerational, intercontinental dialogue to expand the historical record and understanding of the Chinese American experience through dynamic cultural programs, exhibitions, ethnographic scholarship, and partnerships throughout Chicago.
Day by day, our reach continues to grow because of you. Together, we can build an even stronger year ahead.
