Jan 7: Panel Discussion: The Work of Composer Tan Dun

We are thrilled to partner with the Chicago Philharmonic and the Chinese Fine Arts Society for a free event centered on Chinese-American composer Tan Dun’s work! This panel discussion is in advance of the January 14 concert featuring the North American Premiere of Tan Dun’s Concerto for Guitar and Orchestra (Yi2) with Sharon Isbin.

Leading the discussion is multi-Grammy Award winning classical guitarist Sharon Isbin, who commissioned Yi2 and worked extensively with Tan Dun. Rising star cello virtuoso Joshua Roman, who will perform Tan Dun’s Crouching Tiger Concerto, also joins. The conversation will be moderated by Chicago Philharmonic Artistic Director Scott Speck.

Also featured is a performance from the Sound of Wishes Guzheng Ensemble.

The January 7 panel discussion is a free event with limited spaces. Reserve your spot here.
